Lafayette Hospital + Clinics is pleased to announce the addition of Mitchel Kieffer, Chief Financial Officer, to the finance department, bringing with him a background in accounting and deep ties to the region.
A proud native of Galena, Illinois, Mitchel, graduated from Galena High School in 2015 and earned a double major in Accounting and Business Management from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in 2019. He comes to Lafayette Hospital + Clinics with practical experience and a genuine passion for numbers and community-centered healthcare.
“I went into Accounting and Finance because I’ve loved working with numbers from a young age,” Mitchel Kieffer said. “That early interest led me to take an accounting class in high school, which sparked a deeper passion for the field. My experiences in college—interning with Marie Wamsley at another healthcare facility and working at the UW-Platteville Foundation Accounting Office—really confirmed that this is the right path for me.”
Mitchel’s connection to the area runs deep. Raised in Galena, he continues to live there today, surrounded by his close-knit family, including his parents, younger sister, and grandparents—all lifelong residents of the community.
When asked why he chose to join Lafayette Hospital + Clinics, Mitchel’s response was clear: “I chose Lafayette Hospitals + Clinics because it’s clear that this is a place where the work truly matters. What really stood out for me is the strong connection with the community it serves. You can see that support firsthand in the investment made toward the brand-new hospital and clinic—it’s a powerful reflection of how much the community values and believes in the care provided here. Being part of a team that is directly improving the health and well-being of the people around them is incredibly meaningful to me.”
