Imaging Services

The Imaging Department provides a wide range of imaging services to meet your needs. Our registered Imaging Technologists including our Physician Radiologists are available anytime to provide great, quality care.

Department Hours

Monday – Thursday: 7 am – 6 pm
Friday: 7 am – 5 pm

All other hours we have a technologist on call. Therefore, we are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
*The Imaging Department will accommodate appointments to fit our patient’s busy schedules. *

We specialize in X-Rays, CT Scans, 3T MRI (the sole provider of this service in a 60-mile radius) and 3D Mammograms. Along with, Bone Densitometry, Ulrasound, Echocardiography,  Nuclear Medicine, Fluoroscopy and special procedures.

Whether you or a family member is in need of an MRI, CT, or other imaging exams, LHC offers exceptional patient access and provides rapid, reliable imaging services.

All imaging exams are interpreted by our board-certified radiologists. After interpreting the exam, our radiologists will send the report to your provider who ordered the test. Your provider will then share the results with you.

3D Mammography
3D Mammography (Breast Tomosynthesis) is an advanced type of mammogram that can offer better cancer detection, fewer callbacks, and greater peace of mind. 3D technology has been shown to detect small breast cancers up to 15 months earlier than traditional technology.

CT Scans
Computed Tomography (CT or CAT) scans are non-invasive diagnostic tests that generate three-dimensional images of your internal body. CT scans create images by combining multiple “slices” of digital information into a single image that is primarily used to diagnose and treat cancers and other internal medical issues. CT scans typically focus on internal organs, bone, soft tissue, and blood vessels and have the ability to show more detail than traditional x-rays. Frequently, patients are given a contrast agent by injection or to drink prior to the exam to help to reveal details of specific areas of the body for clearer imaging.

MRI
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an imaging exam that uses a powerful magnetic field, radio waves and a computer to produce detailed pictures. MRI does not use ionizing radiation (x-rays). Doctors use MRI to examine the brain, spine, joints (i.e., knee, shoulder, wrist and ankle), abdomen, pelvic region, breast, blood vessels and other body parts. MRI of the blood vessels is called magnetic resonance angiogram, or MRA.

Nuclear medicine
Nuclear medicine procedures use pharmaceuticals that have been labeled with radioactivity. The radiopharmaceuticals are administered to the patient intravenously, subdermal or orally in pill form. The radiation that is emitted is detected and imaged with gamma cameras. Nuclear imaging can also be referred to as radionuclide imaging or nuclear scintigraphy. Nuclear medicine differs from most other imaging modalities in that the tests primarily show the physiological function of the system being investigated as opposed to traditional anatomical imaging such as CT, MRI, ultrasound or general X-rays.

Ultrasound
Ultrasound, known as sonography, ultrasound machines use high-frequency sound waves and computers to create detailed images of your internal body. Using a hand-held transducer, a physician or specialist moves the device over various parts of the body to generate very high-resolution images. Ultrasounds are especially important to monitor pregnancies and are considered safe to record the progress of both the mother and baby.

Other parts of the body that are evaluated by ultrasound include the abdomen, breasts, female pelvis, scrotum, thyroid, and vascular system. In addition, breast ultrasounds are used to diagnose breast abnormalities, typically after they are discovered through a mammogram or during a physical exam. Ultrasounds are non-invasive, have no known dangers or side effects, and do not require radiation, anesthesia, or special dyes.
